This Is Our Story is a venture of Ethical Culture Society member Paul LaClair. He believed that his religion’s lack of shared, meditative tradition – like prayer – was to its discredit. He admired the common vocabulary of Catholics, as indoctrinated by their custom of reciting specific, topical prayers each day of the year.
So Paul asked for our help in creating an analogous daily liturgy for Humanists. He considers the Western cannon the humanist “scripture,” and he scoured it for “Real” (non-fictional) and “Imaginary” (fictional) information on 365 (it’s a little more complicated than that) specific topics to create a complete secular humanist liturgy.
